Our first Advocator-only stout for the 2024-2025 was aged for 29 months in a single 10-year barrel from Heaven Hill Distillery. We took a chance on this particular barrel, not knowing specifically which brand of bourbon it held, but in the end we definitely have no regrets. This barrel took a little longer than some to really come around, but starting around four months ago we could start to tell it was going to be something special.Rich, warming spirit, dark fruits, a touch of burnt caramel and plenty of vanilla jump right out front. Like a bourbon-soaked fruitcake in the best way. A bit of barrel char on the back end and an exceptionally rich, warm finish with the bourbon front and center without too much heat.
