Imperial Black Saison

On paper, this beer sounds like a mess : a Rye black Imperial Saison aged on red wine infused French oak. If you have a chance to grab a bottle, you might find that the result is surprisingly coherent. The black basis brings slight cocoa notes, the dark caramel malt and the (super) dark candi sugar bring some dark fruits that pair well with the fruits from the wine. The Rye brings some spiciness and some depth and complexity to the beer. Finally, the Saison yeast (3711) makes the beer dry enough and bring some herbal notes and some minerality to it (which, to be honest, we didn't expect).
