Henry Flanagan was an Irish Engineer hired to build the Schuylkill Canal, which ran right behind the brewery in the 1820s. While in the area, Henry fell in love, married a local woman, and built an Irish Catholic church for the canal workers about a mile down the road from us. In honor of Henry, we brewed this classic Dry Irish Stout, a super drinkable dark beer with light roast and coffee notes. We like to think it would have reminded Henry of his home across the pond.
