Mofongo

Jillian and Doug were lucky enough to visit a good friend in Puerto Rico earlier in the year, and they ate a ton of delicious food while there. One dish that really made an impression on Jillian was Mofongo, a hearty plantain & pork-based dish native to the island. Of course, we knew we had to turn it into a beer. We used green plantains throughout the brew of this roasty brown ale, and conditioned it on fried sweet plantains and smoked Jalapeno peppers from Epic Acre Farms in Oley. The result is a spicy-hot sweet and smoky beer with a definite plantain nose. Mofongo!
