Desert Island Hazy IPA

This tasty little number came about from some experimentation on our pilot system where we set out to create a hazy, yet dry (as an island) IPA.We threw the kitchen sink at this one in terms of adding haze into a beer – rolled oats and wheat, malted oats, golden naked oats, and even some chit malt. However, counter-intuitively, we also mashed at a really low temperature and added some enzymes to end up with a brew with low residual sugar and a relatively dry finish. What we end up with is a slightly nutty malt base that’s not cloying.But this is all boring – you just want to know what it tastes like right? A heap of Citiva, Mosaic, and Sabro hops were chucked in, so there are waves of pineapple, mango, and a hint of coconut woven in amongst every tropical fruit you can think of! A tasty big hazy!At 6.8%, you’d likely be in tropical heaven if you were stuck on an island with this beer…
