Science, Baby! is a product of scientific exploration and is an absolute fruit bomb without using any fruits or hops. Working with Berkeley Yeast, we created this "Berkeley Blonde" using concentrated thiol precursors and their thiolized English yeast strain. Thiols are compounds that contribute flavor and aroma. Usually they are undetectable or "bound," but with this 1-2 punch of precursor and modified yeast, the bound thiols are noticeable or "free." Science, Baby! uses NO flavor or aroma hops, just a tiny bittering addition to balance out the incredibly potent passion fruit, grapefruit, and pineapple notes from the expressive fermentation. It's a truly unique beer that is the first of its kind.
