STOUT with PEANUTS & BROWN SUGAROur Pub Manager, Taletha (moonlighting as a brewer), hasthis to say about her ingenious creation:“When I was six, Mom was out of the house for the day andDad made us one of the best afternoon snacks I’ve ever had.He made us the Dirt Sandwich. I remember being in thekitchen while Dad put the ingredients together, telling uswhat kind of earth each ingredient represented. Two*toasted* pieces of bread (preferably cinnamon raisin) asthe solid foundation of tectonic plates. Next the *crunchy*peanut butter representing clay with rocks in it. Above thepeanut butter comes a THICK layer of brown sugar - sandobviously. Finally, a thin dusting of cinnamon to roundthings out. The sandwich is complete from here but mayhave additional ingredients. Personalize with other forms ofdirt represented by whatever you have on hand: M&Ms,walnuts, pecans. Mom still remembers the sandwich with alaugh; Dad and I remember it as the best sandwich on earth.I still make one from time to time.
