You’ve turned up for your interview to be a seagull, thinking you can wing it (no pun intended) because you’re also an expert in raiding human bins. You’re asked a couple of problem solving questions about how you would navigate a locked bin, how comfortable you are raiding a bin with other seagulls and if you’re comfortable with constantly smelling like bin juice. You fly through (no pun intended) this part of the interview and you think this job’s in the bag. Then the interviewer asks you to demonstrate your fishing abilities. They caveat this with: ‘We appreciate fishing’s not a huge part of the workplace anymore, but we’re always interested to see how potential employees can navigate possible system failures… You know, just in case we ever have to revert to the old ways.’ They take you to a room with some artificial cliffs and pools and ask you to demonstrate your diving capabilities. You want to mention you have a wing injury but you’re concerned they’ll ask to take a closer look. They’ve already mentioned their onsite medical facility. You stand at the cliff edge, hoping that someone will intervene, that something divine might save you, but you’ve flown (pun intended) too close to the sun, and you’re in too deep now, you’ve gone too far, and so you lift your little racoon arms and take a dive into destiny.WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW THOUGHWest Coast IPA 6.5%.
