BROWN ALEA toasty, warming Brown Ale with Sesame Seeds from the Brewers at Fort George.There are no magic words that will guarantee a beer recipe turns out perfectly but with Open Sesame!, we tried “Open Sesame!” and we got this delicious Brown Ale - imagined and brewed by brewer and packaging manager, Shane Roberts. Open Sesame! was brewed with 25 lbs of house-roasted, hand-processed sesame seeds. We tossed a portion of the seeds into the mash to emphasize the tannins and soaked the rest on the cold side after fermentation.Fort George’s original 8.5 barrel brewhouse has been turning out experimental, rule-breaking beers in small batches since we opened in 2007. In the Sweet Virginia brewhouse - our brewers’ wildest beer dreams come true. Every Fort George beer was once an experimental batch out of Sweet Virginia - from Short Sands Lager to Vortex IPA. 8.5 barrels is just the right number to answer all of our most pressing beer questions: can we put cherries in it? How about 19 different malts? 15 pounds of Thai bananas? What happens when you barrel ferment a hazy IPA?
