It would take the same amount of time to row a boat from Astoria to Kesennuma, Japan as it would take to hike from Astoria to L’Anse aux Meadows on the Labrador Sea. They’re both about 5,000 miles away. But why would you do either of those things? They both sound ridiculous, frankly. Which is why the brewers at Black Tide in Kesennuma, Japan and Fort George came up with a better plan for this year’s Fuji to Hood celebration. James from Black Tide sent over some locally harvested Wakame Seaweed and Michal from Fort George brought in a few bushels of Oregon Coast Dulse Seaweed. Both aquatic vegetables went into a step mash of Rahr Pils & unmalted wheat, bringing the subtle, varied saltiness of the Great Pacific into this lightly tart gose.
