Blend 5 is a 13.6% blend of Bourbon, Rye, and Cognac barrel-aged barleywines, double barrel-aged in a Red Wine puncheon.This beer started several years ago when we aged various barleywines individually in Cognac, Rye, and Bourbon barrels for up to 18-months. A handful of those barrels were then blended in stainless and then racked into a red wine puncheon to age for another 15-months. After cold conditioned in stainless and bottled, the result is a rich and complex beer filled with caramel, dark fruit, and oak flavors with nuanced wine character.
