Old Glen was brewed using 100% local barley and hops from @lakeview_hops and @distilleriefilsduroyinc.This beer was aged for over 9 months in 28 year old whisky casks from the Glenora Distillery in Cape Breton.On the nose, there are heavy notes of oak, dark toffee, malt, and raisins. The flavor is sweet, but not overwhelmingly so. There are notes of rich molasses and toffee, with warming notes of malt whisky. The hop bitterness has softened considerably over months of ageing, but is still present, and compliments flavours of stewed dark fruit and baking spices.Dried fruit and fruitcake notes linger into the finish, and the sweetness begins to fade, transitioning to flavours of dark chocolate and oak.This one is best served at 12-15 degrees Celsius for maximum enjoyment of the flavor profile!
