An Oktoberfest beer, also known as a Märzen, is a malty Lager brewed in March and lagered until Germany's famed Oktoberfest. An Oktoberfunk is a traditional German Märzen Lager brewed in March, and lagered on Brettanomyces until the clean and crisp Lager has added in equal parts of funk and horseblanket. The soft and doughy malt character is rich and complex but remains undeniably dry and easy to drink. A mild hop bitterness and delicate floral character match intensity with the German malts, only to give way to funky hay-like esters that pick up where the lager yeast leaves off, finishing with the horse-blanket character you would expect in a Wild Ale but never in a Lager.
