Each year for a few short weeks, hop harvest commences. It’s an exciting time for us at Soul Barrel as this marks wet hop brewing season! Wet hopping is the brewing method of adding hops fresh off the bine directly into the beer, within a few hours of picking. This ultra fresh use keeps even the most delicate hop flavours and aromas intact, creating special, one time only seasonal beers that reflect time and place. Our first wet hop beer of the season is a special edition of our Vienna Lager, Noble Leaf. We add fresh picked Cascade and Southern Passion hops grown right in our beer garden into our hopback, where we let the beer soak up the fresh goodness before pumping it into the fermentation tank. Lovely stuff!
