Terroir is the understanding of the role that soil, climate and terrain play in flavour characteristics. An idea usually associated with wine, but is now getting traction in the beer realm.Freestyle Hops have taken their NZ Cascade cultivator - usually grown in Upper Moutere - and planted a small lot in St Arnaud in Nelson Lakes.To showcase this idea we have let the hops take centre stage, with a clean and crisp malt base, resulting in an expressive melange of citrus and smooth bitterness.
