After spending 13 months in bourbon barrels, this Imperial Stout was aged an additional 5 months in maple brûlée bourbon barrels from Tonnellerie Moreau in Quebec. They fill bourbon barrels with maple syrup, empty them, and then torch the insides, creating a toasted caramelized sugar effect.This rich and delicious sensory experience pours quite thick and drinks scary-smooth. Notes of anise and caramelized sugar are at the forefront, alongside maple and oak character, hints of red liquorice and a long, boozy bourbon-laced finish.
