According to legend, the Aztec god Huitzilopochtli appeared to Tenoch in a dream, revealing the sign that would end their search: an eagle perched on a cactus, clutching a snake. That cactus, it’s said, grew from the heart of Copil—an enemy of the Mexica—cast into a sacred lake.Our Tenoch sits on a stone throne, surrounded by prickly pear cacti. Above him, the eagle stands watch—wings wide, snake in beak—a powerful nod to the myth, the founding of a great city, and the symbol that still lives on in the Mexican flag
