Our tribute beer to Texans of Scottish descent, this Wee Heavy is a bold burst of fruit and flowers on the nose, followed by a rich, malty sweetness that is full of caramel and toffee. The full body has a chewy, silky feel with little to no bitterness or hop flavor on the finish. The Texas Bluebonnet Tartan was designed by June Prescott McRoberts, late owner of the 'Thistles & Bluebonnets' in Salado, TX. The tartan was officialy adopted as the Texas State Tartan on 5/25/1989. The colors of the tartan owe their selection to the bluebonnet flower, a member of the lupin family, which is widespread in many parts of Texas. The flower changes color with the passing of time, the 'brim' becoming flecked with red.
