English Barleywine aged 28 months in 15-year Thomas H Handy Rye Barrels.A couple months ago, we were racking some thoroughly-aged barleywine into a second set of barrels, and realized we were going to end up with a little extra that wouldn’t fit in the new barrels. So we picked out the best tasting one and held on to the extra bit. Since we’d already done a THH15 Singularity, the brewers gave this one a code name - the acronym for which is NCBW (maybe you can guess it?). This beer is a showcase of extended aging in oak. Deep and rich with a firm oaky flavor and tannins and a hint of rye spice. All the rough edges have aged away months ago and this one is drinking exceptionally smooth.
