Описание

The lyrics of John William’s masterpiece were lifted from Cad Goddeu (Battle of the Trees), a medieval Welsh poem preserved in the 14th century manuscript Book of Taliesin. Gwydion, a legendary enchanter, animates trees to serve as his army in war. Williams translated a fragment, sung in Sanskrit for effect: “Under the tongue root, a fight most dread, while another rages behind in the head”. >: [
