The name was inspired by the slight banana flavour in the beer from the Belgian style yeast that is used. What eats bananas? A monkey. What is an epic monkey? A gorilla. What is an epic gorilla? King Kong. Hence the name for this big beer. It is a very unusual style for Epic to brew since we are known nearly solely for making big hoppy IPA's. Having seen recently that IPA drinkers are looking for a contrast in what they drink we thought we would try something different. So we have made this beer that only uses a small amount of Citra hops, but all the flavour comes from the yeast fermentation, and some alcohol sweetness. Surprisingly easy to drink for an 8% beer.
