Damn Son - Single Barrel Series #2

The second release in our Single Barrel Series sees an ex Sauternes sweet white wine cask age the same Berliner style ale as release #1, this time on Damson plums. We brewed with a classic base of Belgian Pilsner malt & Irish flaked oats, hopped with a touch of Cascade and fermented with traditional brewers yeast & lactobacillus. A few weeks later, the plums were picked, smuggled over the border, de-stoned, quartered & into oak all on one sunny September day in 2020. The resulting ale is a beautiful deep rose gold colour, with a soft carbonation. The nose is sweet plums with a dry & tart bite to the tongue, rounded off with a slight woody, vanilla & fruit finish.
