Super Motueka SMaSH

Super Motueka SMaSH is our fresh-hop beer this year. We wanted to really showcase the fresh hops from Freestyle Hop Farms this year so we figured a SMaSH (single malt, single hop) beer would be a great way to go. The hop is Motueka from Freestyle and the malt is 100% Ale Malt from Gladfield (just down the road in Dunsandel). Ale is a great choice for a single malt as it's clean and finishes dry but packs plenty of bready/toasty malt flavour to support the hops. Fermented out with a Belgian abbaye yeast and fermented cool to bring some light esters and phenols for extra complexity.
