Kamome (word for seagull in Japanese) is a collab IPA with Banks Brewing. When we were conceptualizing the collab beer brewed at each location, we talked about featuring a bird that is significant to Seaford Victoria where Banks Brewing is located. At Inkhorn Brewing for Kamome, we kept the malt bill similar—mostly light colored base malt plus a little bit of Spelt malt added. We wree going for a punchy West Coast style IPA at both locations, and I believe we achieved the goal. Kamome drinks light but has enough body and oily slick to sustain the strong mango, grapefruit, and piney flavors. It does not seem like a 7.5% abv beer at first but then you’ll feel it most of the way through your pint glass. It’s one of the beers featured at the Hops on OZ event.
