This collaboration brew between Mountain Goat Brewery & Grain Store Craft Beer Cafe in Newcastle is best categorised as an 'India Copper Ale'. With a name such as 'Grainy Goat' the Grain bill was obviously very important in the creation of this Copper Ale, the rich almost florescent orange colour has come by using a combination of Ale, Vienna, Crystal & Choc malts from the fantastic Maltster's from NZ's South Isle 'Gladfield'. We used SPOR as our bittering hop than added Ella & Summer late plus a generous late dry hopping with Ella in the fermenter! The result is a lovely balanced beer that has really nice floral/citrus aroma driven from the Ella but a really ballsy backbone that makes it extremely drinkable for a beer at just below 7.0% abv.
