This beer represents the first effort in our Allyship Through Collaboration Series, which saw our Head Brewer Hollie Stephenson brew with her friends and craft beer influencers Jackie Wonsey (@curlycraftbeertraveler) and Courtney Holden (@black_beer_geek). The purpose of this series is to use beer to create a more inclusive and representative space at the Open Gate Brewery and in craft beer overall, while also working to support local organizations with similar goals of equality - all proceeds from See Us will be donated to the Job Opportunities Task Force in Baltimore. The beer itself is a brown ale brewed with sweet potatoes roasted in-house, vanilla, nutmeg, cinnamon, allspice, and milk sugar. This is a beer evocative of Sweet Potato Pie, a family tradition shared by both Jackie and Courtney.
