It’s been an exciting few weeks at Equilibrium. We had a small-scale experiment that we consider a breakthrough for our hop program and we had a glycol chiller attempt to weld Ricardo to the roof. We were able to trigger an intense amount of the “EQ juice” at the small scale for the first time in a very controlled environment. Subsequently, we have developed and solved a full set of differential equations and have been working on fitting parameters to understand and optimize this very complex dynamic. While we still have a few things to figure out, we are very happy with this first attempt and this will shape our hop program to come.dHop14 pours a very hazy tangerine color, releasing bright tropical notes of peach, mango, and cantaloupe with undercurrents of sorbet and cream. The flavor follows the nose with a soft body, resinous juicy middle, and mild bitterness for balance. Our experiments are currently on high as we continue to refine and understand what happened at the large scale and we expect amazing beers to come as we further dial this in.
