Leading up to Stout Month, the brewers at Fort George begin to dream of stouts. Only stouts. This is company policy. Any non-stout-related dreams must be postponed until a later date. Wojtek is just one fineresult of this company-wide dream mandate.Brewer Nate Turner had this to say about his tribute toUrsine bravery and utility: “Wojtek was a bear that was adopted by a Polish army unit in WWII. Wojtekbecame fast friends with the unit and when they were told that they could not travel with a "Mascot" they enlisted the bear in the Polish Army. Theyprovided him a serial # and even a pay book. Wojtek carried artillery ammunition to the front lines and enjoyed drinking beer and smoking cigarettes with his comrades."
