Originally named for the famous warm Canterbury wind, sadly the original recipe was another one lost to our series of earthquakes. However, we went back to the drawing board to redesign this elegant strong English ale, brewed to a new recipe by necessity and dry hopped with Fuggles, Styrian Golding, Pacifica and Pacific Gem.Ghost Brewing Strong Ale is a lustrous amber with a thick, luxuriant collar of cream coloured head. It has a nose of brassy maltiness - round, ripe orchard fruit, dried apricots, dehydrated papaya, some Fuggles woodiness and Bakewell tart. It is unashamed of its almost musty woodiness that is an elegant hallmark of the style. A mouthful reveals it to be full-bodied with a pinprick storm of pleasing spritzy carbonation before the sensation of malty loveliness. Strong Ale brings a lengthy autumnal finish of bonfire and burnt leaves. If a certain Orkney single malt whisky was a beer, it would be this... and that is high praise indeed if we do say so ourselves.
