One of the exciting parts of forging good relationships with hop suppliers is that occasionally we get ahold of hops that have not yet been released to market. We have gotten a small amount of a hop currently known only as “033” from Hop Products Australia, and put it to work in a light pale ale with a single malt variety- the heritage English variety Maris Otter. This light golden beer gives gentle notes of bread crust, stonefruit, and spicy white grape on the aroma. This follows with a more resinous taste reminiscent of citrus pith and pine. Finishing with a light bitterness hinting at plum skin, this beer is both a unique learning experience and refreshing, balanced pale ale.
