In November 2019 while on a brewery equipment shopping trip to Germany we took a pilgrimage by train to the city of Bamberg, the home of smoked beer. We toured Weyermann, a malt producer, then rushed down to the Schlenkerla brewery to drink the famed smoked beer. As we drank our half litres of liquid bacon fries we told each other we'd brew one of these weird and wonderful beers with malt from Bamberg if we ever got our own brewery open. We did just that in 2021 and we're buzzing to bring a tweaked version back for what will be an annual tradition. Here's to liquid bacon fries.
