NOTE: This beer is released under the same name but rotates in style each year. This listing is for the version of the beer brewed in 2018.For years, we’ve partnered with Tempe Sister Cities to bring a little bit of Germany to Arizona in the form of the Four Peaks Oktoberfest at Tempe Town Lake. But for this year’s celebration of all things Deutsch, we wanted to go further.Enter Weltenburger Kloster, the oldest monastery brewery in the world. Founded in 1050 A.D., Weltenburg has been producing world-class beer since before Four Peaks was but a twinkle our founder’s great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-grandfather’s eye. It also happens to be located just outside Regensburg—Tempe’s sister city in Germany. So we invited their brewers to join us in the desert to brew a traditional, German-style, Reinheitsgebot-approved wheat beer on our 8th Street brewhouse. The resulting beer—based on one of Weltenburger’s oldest recipes—showcases the heritage and quality of both our breweries.We think it could be the beginning of a beautiful freundschaft.
