Guinness coming to Maryland means more than just opening a brewery.Our long history has many examples of the company getting involvedwith and supporting all the people who make beer a reality, especiallythe farmers and maltsters who take care of the raw ingredients.To continue that tradition here in Maryland, Guinness worked with twolocal companies — Dark Cloud Malthouse (of Cooksville, MD)and Black Locust Hops (of Baltimore County) — to brew the first ina Maryland-sourced beer series. Called “Crosslands” (which is a nod tothe red and white crest in the Maryland flag) this running series will focuson beers made with ingredients and people from and for Maryland.Crosslands Pale Ale features two-row pale malt and a hefty portion ofMunich to showcase the sweet bready flavors of the locally grown andmalted barley. A generous portion of Cascade hops provide balancedbitterness and bright orange and earthy aromas. Topped off by thelegacy Guinness yeast, this beer finishes very clean and is a greatexample of the easy-going and welcoming spirit of the Old Line State.
