As we exit winter and spring starts to lengthen and freshen our days, traditional beer styles often reflect this seasonal change. While Maibock is a relatively recent addition to the Bock lager family it certainly isn't new. Traditional bocks and doppelbocks are a very malty and often darker winter affair, Maibock embraces all things that we feel a spring lager should have. The malt and alcohol presence is still relatively strong due to plenty of Munich and Vienna malts complimenting German Pilsner malt. There is still a chill in the air so some comfort is neeeded. A slighty zippy bitterness and mellow floral, spicy hop aroma reflect the new life and growth that spring time brings.
