This top-fermented beer is one of the first beers we brewed on home brew scale in the summer of 2015 and it is still one of our favorites. Hafgufa is a heavy, dark beer with a distinct character, in which flavors of coffee and dark chocolate stand out. This beer can be stored for a long time and in fact will only get better with time (10-11% ABV).The name is inspired by the Hafgufa, a mythological sea monster described in the Icelandic Saga of Örvar-Oddr from the 14th century:"It is the nature of the Hafgufa to swallow men and ships, and even whales and everything else within its reach."Recommended drinking temperature is 13-16°C.A fitting name for such a bold beer!
