Orange Blossom honey, passion fruit, kiwis & makrut limes.We have a long standing love affair with local citrus here at Lost Cause. Citrus is Southern California sunshine & terroir wrapped up in a bright colored little semi-edible ball. Usually powerfully acidic & intensely aromatic, it's anything but subtle & always brings life to the party.And, it often needs to be balanced by something sweet to be enjoyable (like many of us, right?). So it can be a perfect component for mead.When we first tried local Makrut limes (aka kaffir limes) from our friends at Rancho Del Sol Organics, we were hooked. These little knobby wonders made regular limes look bland & boring; the aroma punched you in the face with a combo of citrus & floral notes. These were complex limes like nothing we had tried, & we HAD to use them for a mead.We leaned into the tropical/citrus vibes & went with a passion fruit & kiwi mead with makrut lime zest, & the end result is an intensely bright & refreshing sipper.
