Moxee is a little town that sits in the middle of Yakima valley, where some of the world’s best hops are grown. It’s also where Bale Breaker brewery is - a place founded by the sons and daughters of legendary Yakima Valley hop grower, Mike Smith. Even though they’re from hop royalty, the Bale Breaker crew works insanely hard to make great beer. They never rest on their laurels, something we really respect. Whenever we go on a trip to select the latest season hops, Moxee is the first place we stop. It’s like going to stay at your cousin’s house. They’re like family, Meghann, Big Kev, Little Kev, and Pat, you’re looked after so well.Bale Breaker was one of the first breweries we ever did a collaboration beer with (Dimples). So, it was fitting we teamed up again for a special 5th birthday beer with them. Our head brewer Scott sat down and looked at some of the best hops we’ve gotten from their farm lately - Loral, Ekuanot, Simcoe, and worked to tie them all in together. Little Kev (Smith) helped with refining the recipe - a Pacific NW Pale Ale to salute some of the original craft beers America became so well known for. Kevin was so inspired, he jumped on their pilot rig the next day and started brewing a variation. They hadn’t done something like that in a while.Hopefully, Bale Breaker will save some for us next time we can get over to enjoy a relaxing sunset drink at Moxee.
