This German-style beer is a light bodied ale, full of coffee, vanilla and hazelnut flavors. We used the Buonissimo Espresso Blend #3 from our friends at over 33° Coffee Company, who describe it as “a full bodied and rich espresso blend with subtle caramel sweetness and chocolate notes.”The name Torpedo Juice comes from a little known but frankly hilarious piece of American lore. During World War II, the US Navy used a 180-proof grain alcohol fuel to power torpedo motors. Navy officials intentionally added various poisons into the alcoholic fuel to deter soldiers from drinking the mixture. The soldiers, evidently talented in realms beyond combat, explored ways to remove the poison and later cut the mixture with pineapple juice, creating a proper cocktail that came to be known as “Torpedo Juice.”
