Of the Farm: Summer Plum

Plums have a long a storied history as a global fruit, having been found in Neolithic archaeological sites, and then spreading around the world. Their first known cultivation is dated to nearly 500 BC, older than any other fruit, except…. the apple! We thought this history makes for the perfect reason to pair the two fruits. For our 2025 vintage, we started with an aged single varietal Gold Rush Cider, and added nearly a pound per gallon of locally grown Plums. A beautifully hued, dry, fruity Cider results, with light tartness balanced by an underlying Plum sweetness. It’s a wonderful Summer sipper steeped in global history.
