The late Lenny McLean was an unlicensed boxer, bare-knuckles fighter, enforcer, bodyguard and bouncer from the East End of London, who found fame from the 60's through to the late 80's. He dabbled in acting in the 90's with his most famous role being "Barry the Baptist" in Guy Ritchie's: Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels.Often described as an Old School Hardman and London Gangster, he was known by many titles... "The King of the Cobbles", "The King of Bouncers" and "The hardest man in Britain". He was feared and respected throughout London. He was also known by another name, a name used to show him respect:The Guv'norAnother product originally out of the East End of London was the Brown Porter (also known as London Porter or English Porter). This was a beer loved by the working classes and, reputably, was named after the occupation of it's most avid drinkers. Our kiwi take on a London Brown Porter is made with only New Zealand Malts and Hops. Createing a tasty and balanced beer. It pours dark brown with a light tan coloured head. Flavours of caramel, dark toffee, licorice, chocolate and the merest hints of roasted character, all complement each other and the backbone of earthy and woody hops. All that while being light bodied, crisp and refreshing, The Guv'nor is a dangerously drinkable beerWe reckon Lenny would have loved a pint or two of it as well.
