Hurricane

Описание

Hurricane Best Bitter is our commemoration of Loch Ewe’s relationship with the Hawker Hurricane aircraft. The Arctic convoys sometimes included catapult aircraft merchant ships (CAMS). These had a ramp over the bow on which a hurricane was mounted and launched by a rocket propelled catapult to intercept enemy aircraft. A one way ticket for the pilot as there was no means of landing. He would have to bail or ditch in the Arctic sea and await recovery by the convoy vessels.
