This beer both represents a relatively new beer style and a very old tradition at the very beginning of brewing history. Before the discovery of indirect heating ovens for the malting and roasting process of the cereals, the malt was getting a smoked flavor from the direct heat, that was kept in the final product resulting in a smoked beer character. Our interpretation presents herself as pitch Black with a light caramel foam. The protagonists of this beer are without a doubt the malts. The coffee and born flavor from the roasted malts and a smooth smokiness from high quality Birch smoked malt, together with a full mouthfeel play the main role in this complex beer.
