India Black Lager

Our Small Batch releases are an opportunity to experiment with new ingredients and brewing techniques, like in this India Black Lager. Traditionally, IPA’s are fermented at higher temperatures and have lighter malts to build the body. This was an opportunity to bend these rules and ferment with our house lager yeast, use Flex (CO2 hop extract) for bittering and use of rolled oats for smooth mouth feel and de-husked black malt to give the dark appearance without the bitter astringency.The beer was dry hopped at cold temperatures with a mix of old school US classics to achieve punches of citrus, cut grass, resin, pine and earthy notes, which marry perfectly with the darker style.
