Heaven Hill Bourbon barrel aged imperial stout with pistachios and vanilla beans.This beer is full of flavors to unpack. You certainly get the creaminess of the pistachio and vanilla bean. These adjuncts proved to be beautiful compliments to the base stout, but we are also picking up on all kinds of lovely surprises from the barrel. It has light notes of chocolate covered cherries, lingering flavors of toasted almond, and some gentle hazelnut cream. The vanilla is fantastic on the nose, and does its job of balancing and sweetening. There is flavor of pistachio Bundt cake and boozy almond liquor. It’s hot, and bourbon heavy and oh, so complex.
