Описание
Ben Davis is believed to have been first cultivated in Kentucky in 1799. It became one of 19th century America’s most prolifically grown apples. Nicknamed ‘The Mortgage Lifter’ because it grew well, fruited consistently and stored long: it was a Keeper apple. Ben Davis is now mostly out of commercial cultivation but remains sought after by cidermakers. In good years it ripens late, has lovely soft acidity and interesting stone fruit on the pallet with a little clove and nutmeg on the nose. This one single fermenter from the 2019 season produced an exceptionally lovely cider.
