Spent, you collapse – face down – near the roof of the world, the top of the mighty Himalayas and you think to yourself ‘damn, these mountains are far saltier than I ever imagined, and way more pink.’Suddenly, in a shaft of golden sunlight, a hand appears, it holds aloft a coruscating glass, the dancing liquid within is black as midnight, and exudes the confounding scent of summer peaches.‘That must be my brain shutting down from lack of oxygen’ you say to yourself, because this seems that it cannot be true. But it is. You are at Journey’s End, and the glass before you contains the Nectar of the Gose.This is the newest installment of the Bartender Series, brewed with love by Bar Goat Emily under the consummate eye of Brewer Alana. The wheat and pilsner malts lend soft body to this beer, while the midnight wheat both colours and adds very subtle highlights of light charry bitterness. The hops, never a big player in a gose, are subsumed by the subtle, sour-sweet roundness of peaches and peach nectar. The delicate botanicals imparted by the coriander seed add spice to this complex ale, and the light, salty smack keeps drawing you back.Malts: Wheat, Pilsner, Midnight Wheat.Hops: Amarillo.Yeast: German Ale Yeast.Other players: yellow peaches, peach nectar, pink Himalayan rock salt.Tasting notes by Scottie.
