Описание
The Autumn Olive is a shrub that produces prolific amounts of small red and silver berries. The plant was originally brought to the US for erosion control along stream banks. It turns out they like it here, and have become extremely invasive, overtaking many other native plants. A consolation is that the berries are edible: tart, sweet, and astringent. We foraged pounds and pounds of them near French Creek State Park, and rested them in a wild-fermented cider for some Moons. They created a uniquely fruity cider with a noticeable drying finish, showing that getting them in our bellies is better than leaving them on the ground!
