First released for our 5th Birthday, ‘Thunderhead’, our aged Barleywine is back on tap again. For the uninitiated, Barleywine isn’t a wine, it just shares similar ABV and is amongst the stronger end of the global beer styles. Its huge malt bill contains Vienna, Victory, Maris Otter, and Crystal malts, and is kept in check with generous hop additions of Chinook, Centennial and Columbus. For fermentation we’ve used a subtle Belgian yeast strain, and then aged it for 12 months! Expect a gloriously smooth malty beer, and while not over sweet for the style it still carries flavour notes of caramel, sticky date pudding and cognac.
