Port Barrel Bière De Garde (01/13/21)

We brewed Bière de Garde last year just to fill the Espresso Liquor barrel that we released last month. We had plenty of extra though, so we filled two freshly dumped Port barrels with Bière de Garde that had just finished primary fermentation in our open oak fermenters. We added fruit to one of them and packaged the remaining single barrel by itself. This beer has a sweet body and a creamy vanilla finish. The aroma is unlike any spirit barrel blend we've done before. The acidity is lower than older Bière de Garde blends. Bière de Garde is really growing on me as a great candidate for these specialty barrels.
