To showcase the best of both beer and wine we chose to brew a Belgian Blonde ale that was aged in freshly emptied Innocent Bystander chardonnay barrels. After several months in barrel, the beer was blended back with a small portion of stainless-aged blonde ale along with a carefully considered amount of Rose for added complexity, sweetness and a light pink hue. The resulting beer showcases a delicate balance of classic fruity and spicy Belgian esters in perfect harmony with subtle pear and stonefruit notes and very mild acidity from the chardonnay barrels. Easy drinking yet delicate and complex. A favourite with the Hargreaves Hill brewers.
